INDIA bloc as a beginning of democratic renewal

Brief:
The Bharat Jodo Yatra, in Kerala | Photo Credit: THE HINDU/SURESH ALLEPPEY The battle to secure India’s democracy and safeguard its constitutional values cannot be won through politics as usual. The ruling party thrives on centralisation and subversion — of institutions, narratives, and decision-making. The Opposition must embrace the opposite: decentralisation, open dialogue, respect for norms, and a politics that listens before it speaks. The Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi (and now Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha) showcased this approach. Unlike scripted political campaigns, these yatras were open-ended engagements — with leaders listening as much as they spoke, and communities shaping the agenda rather than merely receiving promises. These were in stark contrast to the ruling party’s rigid command-and-control structures. Yet, this lesson, despite its success, has not been fully internalised by the Opposition.

At the mega auction last year, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians fought hard for Noor Ahmad’s services, and the former won the battle at ₹5 crore. Noor’s former team, Gujarat Titans, used its Right to Match card, but CSK had no hesitation in doubling its bid to ₹10 crore to get the Afghanistan tweaker eventually.

On Sunday (March 23, 2025), the 20-year-old gave a glimpse of why he was the Super Kings’ costliest buy, delivering a brilliant spell (4-0-18-4) to set up a four-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in their IPL league match at the MAC Stadium.

Electing to field, CSK’s bowlers, led by the spinners, were on top of their game, picking wickets at regular intervals to restrict the Mumbai side to 155 for nine.

In pursuit of 156, Ruturaj Gaikwad led the way for the hosts, smashing a quickfire 53 (26b, 6x4, 3x6). The CSK skipper got going with his trademark cover drives off Trent Boult. He then smashed Mitchell Santner for a six and two boundaries as CSK made 62 for one in the PowerPlay.

Suryakumar Yadav’s men fought back when debutant left-arm wrist spinner Vignesh Puthur took three wickets in his first three overs to put the brakes on the chase.

elugu film starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, has finally arrived on the big screens worldwide. With soaring expectations, does this emotional saga deliver an unforgettable experience? Dive into our review to find out! Story: Raju (Naga Chaitanya), a fearless fisherman from Srikakulam, shares a deep and unbreakable bond with Satya (Sai Pallavi). Their love is pure and unwavering, but their lives take a dramatic turn when Raju is honored with the title of Thandel (Leader) among his people. Concerned for his safety, Satya urges him to give up fishing forever. Despite her warnings, Raju sets out to sea, unknowingly drifting into Pakistani waters. This unfortunate mistake lands him and his crew in a Pakistani jail, turning their lives upside down. Will Raju and his men find a way back home? Can love withstand the test of distance, struggle, and uncertainty? The answers unfold in Thandel, a gripping tale of love, sacrifice, and resilience. Plus Points: Thandel beautifully proves that a simple love story, when told with strong emotions, can leave a lasting impact. The film seamlessly blends love, longing, sadness, and patriotism, making it an engaging watch. After a long time, Naga Chaitanya delivers a performance that truly stands out. His transformation into the character is remarkable, and his effortless mastery of the Srikakulam accent adds authenticity, making it a delightful aspect of the film. Sai Pallavi, as expected, shines yet again. Her expressive performance adds depth to the narrative, making her love and emotions for Raju feel incredibly real. The chemistry between Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi is one of the film’s biggest strengths, bringing a unique charm to their romance. Devi Sri Prasad’s music is a revelation. For those who doubted his recent work, Thandel serves as a reminder of his brilliance. His compositions breathe life into the film, elevating key moments with soul-stirring tracks. The songs are not just well-composed but also perfectly placed, enhancing the emotional depth of the narrative. Minus Points: While Thandel tells a heartfelt love story, certain sequences feel repetitive, causing slight disconnects in the narrative. A bit more variation in the screenplay could have made the journey even more immersive. The Pakistan jail portions, though impactful, could have been executed with greater intensity. While the intent is strong, some moments lack the punch needed to evoke powerful patriotic emotions. A stronger infusion of stirring dialogues could have amplified the impact, leaving audiences with a lasting impression. Although the runtime is reasonable, a few scenes tend to drag, slightly affecting the film’s pacing. A tighter edit would have ensured a more gripping experience. Technical Aspects: Director Chandoo Mondeti deserves appreciation for crafting an emotionally resonant love story. He sensitively captures pain, longing, and patriotism, making the emotional beats land effectively. However, a bit more finesse in writing and execution could have enhanced certain scenes. Devi Sri Prasad’s background score plays a crucial role in uplifting the film, making every emotional moment even more powerful. Shamdat Sainudeen’s cinematography is another major highlight, offering breathtaking visuals that enrich the storytelling. The dialogues are well-written, with a few standing out memorably. Naveen Nooli’s editing is decent, but a few trims here and there would have helped maintain a tighter grip on the narrative. Production values are commendable, adding to the film’s overall appeal. Verdict: On the whole, Thandel is a deeply emotional love story interwoven with patriotic elements. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi deliver stellar performances, their chemistry serving as the film’s soul. Devi Sri Prasad’s music elevates the experience, making the emotional moments even more impactful. Though the film has minor drawbacks, such as occasional repetition and a few underwhelming moments in the jail sequences, its strong emotions and heartfelt storytelling make it worth watching. If you enjoy love stories with depth, Thandel is a film that will touch your heart. 123telugu.com Rating: 3.25/5 Reviewed by 123telugu Team

Brief:
Movie Name : Pattudala Release Date : February 06, 2025 123telugu.com Rating : 2.5/5 Starring : Ajith Kumar, Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Aarav, Nikhil Nair, Dasarathi, Ganesh and Others Director : Magizh Thirumeni Producer : Subaskaran Music Director : Anirudh Ravichander Cinematographer : Om Prakash ISC Editor : NB Srikanth Related Links : Trailer Ajith’s Vidaamuyarchi is the latest Tamil biggie that hit theaters today amidst much buzz. The movie has been released in Telugu as Pattudala. Check out our review to see how it fares. Story: After 12 years of marriage, Kayal (Trisha) decides to separate from her husband, Arjun (Ajith). Respecting her decision, he agrees to drop her off in her hometown, Tbilisi. However, during the journey, his car breaks down, and he seeks help from Rakshith (Arjun) and Deepika (Regina Cassandra) to drop Kayal off at a nearby restaurant bar. Once the car is repaired, Arjun returns to pick her up, only to discover that she has been kidnapped. Desperate, he questions everyone around, but no one has any answers. Eventually, he finds Rakshith and is shocked to learn that he is behind the abduction. Forced into a dangerous game, Arjun follows Rakshith’s instructions in a desperate attempt to save his wife. Who are these people? Why did they kidnap Kayal? Why did Kayal want a divorce? What unfolds in the end? The movie unravels the mystery. Plus Points: Ajith exudes charm in this film, looking effortlessly stylish with his salt-and-pepper look. His screen presence is commendable, and he delivers well in the action sequences. His scenes with Trisha are decent. Trisha plays her role adequately, though she doesn’t get much scope to showcase her acting skills. Arjun and Regina fit their respective roles well. The action sequences in the second half are well-executed, adding some energy to the film. The visuals, especially the cinematography capturing Azerbaijan’s landscapes, are impressive. Minus Points: The story follows a familiar and predictable template, making it easy to foresee what happens next. Given the lack of novelty in the plot, the film could have been elevated with gripping storytelling and intense sequences. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen, resulting in a mediocre experience. Anirudh’s background score lacks freshness, and there are no powerful moments for him to enhance with his music. While Regina and Arjun’s casting is acceptable, their performances fail to leave an impact. At times, their acting feels exaggerated. The supporting cast also does little to enhance the narrative. The songs are forgettable, failing to create any lasting impression. The climax, too, lacks the intensity needed to leave the audience satisfied. Technical Aspects: Director Magizh Thirumeni seems to have aimed for an action thriller with Ajith in the lead but ends up delivering a routine narrative. The slow pace and predictable screenplay further diminish its appeal. Anirudh’s music, which usually stands out, is underwhelming in this film. However, Om Prakash’s cinematography is a strong point, effectively capturing the visuals. Editing by N. B. Srikanth could have been sharper, which might have improved the overall impact. The production values are good, and the Telugu dubbing is satisfactory. Verdict: On the whole, Pattudala (Vidaamuyarchi) is a mediocre action thriller that relies heavily on Ajith’s presence. While the action sequences are decent, the predictable plot, lackluster performances, and unimpressive screenplay make it a forgettable experience. Ajith’s fans might enjoy his stylish persona, but for others, this routine action drama may not be worth the time. 123telugu.com Rating: 2.5/5
